Dr. who did my adult circumcision left a long suture inside. Can you remove it?

Dr. Reed, The doctor who did my adult circumcision closed the skin with a continuous suture which never dissolved.  Can still feel it and there is a disturbing circular indentation all the way around.  Neil

Dear Neil,

Please try to obtain a copy of the operative report, as this is an unusual way to close a circumcision, specially leaving a permanent suture inside.  If this is the case, I can try to remove the suture via a limited incision.  Another explanation is this could be a foreign body reaction to a suture that has long since dissolved.  If this is the case, I would propose the circumcision scar be circumferentially excised.  That means the entire circumcision will be redone.  Of course the sutures used will be external and absorbable.  However, we remove them usually in 12 to 14 days.  Take a look at before and after pictures of adult circumcisions posted on our web-site adult-male-circumcision.com  Hope you like what you see.
