Dr. Reed, How many circumcision styles are there and are they all compatible such as high and tight or low and loose? Tim
Circumcision styles are up to the patient whenever possible
Assuming you do not have phimosis in which case we need to remove all scarified skin, which may affect “high” ness of the incision, yes we look at the four different choices and they are compatible. 1. remove or do not remove the frenulum 2. incision line winds up high, moderate, or low, 3. laxity of skin: tight, moderate or loose. 4. cut parallel to the rim (on the oblique, most commonly requested) or perpendicular to the long axis of the shaft.
Please check for sufficiency or laxity of skin when you are erect, by pulling your foreskin out. If you see pubic hair starts to transfer to the top side of the base of the penis, that is too tight. Similarly if you see scrotal skin transferring to the underside of the penis, that’s a penile scrotal web with many unattractive features. Such as hair being dragged into the vagina or the optical illusion of loss of length.
Cordially and have a great July 4th,
Harold M. Reed, M.D.
