Frenulum tag detracts from normal circumcised look

Dr. Reed,  Had an adult circumcision, but the doctor left a remnant of my frenulum.  Please look at the photo and see if you agree.  How easy is this to correct.  How soon could I be back to work, and sex?

Frenulum remnant

Dear Benson,

When we discuss circumcision styles, the patient is given a choice of remove or not remove the frenulum.  If he says remove it, believe me it is removed and any fold or extension of the frenulum also comes off.  We also put the on the stretch and if we feel a tether more deeply under the skin, that too is released.  Delicate 5-0 Vicryl Rapide sutures are used to bring the skin together in the midline along with steri-strips to promote the most cosmetic wound healing.

In your situation this is an exam room procedure, and could be done very economically under local anesthesia.  Let’s review your medical history over the phone, height-weight confirmation, current medications if any, allergies, etc.

If you work in an office environment, you could be back on the job, next day. We would cautiously suggest no penetrating sex for 6 weeks as rubbing may open the incision line or produce a localized inflammation.  As always with circumcisions and the like in our office, you’ll have a hand held mirror to follow work in progress

Hope that makes sense.
