Have phimosis, treatment options?

Dr. Reed, Have phimosis. What are the treatment options.  Jared

Dear Jared,

Phimosis is a normal congenital condition which only persists in about 3% of men over 18 years of age.  If you’re an adult and a trial of steroid creams has not resulted in a permanent cure, I would suggest an adult circumcision. We see several cases every year with characteristic inflammation and micro-tears.  Micro-tears result in  the replacement of normal elastic fibers with scar tissue which doesn’t stretch without producing more micro-tears.  A vicious cycle.

All of the distal scar tissue (involving inner and outer skin) has to be removed, which means  you will not be able to have an ultra high cut.  But you will still have some latitude in circumcision styles.  You’ll probably say if I knew it was this easy, would have done it a lot sooner.

Before and after phimosis pictures are on our web-site  adult-male-circumcision.com/photographic-examples   Scroll down to figures 10 through 13 for phimosis.

Cordially,
